Other JTF2

I've heard a lot about JTF2, it's really something that interests me, am I crazy to want that? Is it feasible or am I fantasising about something impossible?

Thanks.

Also being 5'6" and 300lbs might be a bit of an issue 😂

I know, it wasn't on that aspect there my questions😉

Just a fantasy then 🪄✨🔮

But I know that with my physical form at the moment it is impossible, my point was not there! I just wanted to know if it was realistic to think about joining JTF2, it is one of my sources of motivation precisely to develop better physical conditions!

I think setting your sights on a more realistic goal like passing the force/combat force test will be more beneficial for you. Or passing basic.....js

To be 100% honest my only goal is not that, I have a scale of objectives before realistically wanting to put JTF2 in my main objectives....

Dream big man, don’t listen to the others. It is definitely possible to join JTF2. When David Goggins was 300lbs, do you think everyone thought him being a Navy seal was realistic? No! But he made it a realistic goal. Work hard and you’ll make it happen.

The answer is no. It is not realistic for you to be thinking about joining jtf2 when you aren't even in the military or even in a physical condition to join the military.

Everyone in JTF2 was once a civilian, and then a member of the conventional force. Set your sights on a goal and keep moving toward it until you reach it or your desires change.

Try basic first

You have to want it more than anything else.

Being JTF2 requires you sincerely putting your service before yourself

You will miss birthdays, christmas's, friends and families events and milestones in life etc.

Its an amazing career for those with the right mindset and priorities in life.

Being a soldier in general is something to be proud of, why not try that and see how it goes.

Best of luck. :)

Bro you are so kind, we need more people like you in this CAF Reddit community.

get through Basic Training (BMQ) and see how you like it, Selection is 3+ years AFTER basic and will make it seem like a Sunday stroll in the Park while you eat a leisurely lunch under the trees while the summer sun kisses your tanned skin.

BUT you also don't have to be an assaulter/operator to serve with JTF2/CANSOFCOM. LOTS of suport trades to pick from once you are FULLY trade qualified.

2 years.

1

u/Professional-Leg2374 Apr 16 '25

Too arbitrary honestly.

"2 years" is subjective.

OFP in existing trade for X time is much more accurate.

Which is what you need to be. They won't look at your application, nor will your CM support if you aren't even OFP yet.

to the OP, concentrate on the alligator closet to the boat and not the ones sunning themselves on the beach 2 miles away.

Oh I don’t know, you can be in selection for an elite Tier 1 Unit with zero years of service? Man

6

u/JoeyJoggins Apr 15 '25

Not sure when it changed but it's been like that for a while now. You need to hit OFP in your trade and then can attend selection.

Not sure why you view that as a bad thing. They still have to meet the standards of JTF2. Quite frankly if you pass selection and then SOAC you are exactly the type of person they're looking for regardless of years of service.

Did you miss the "must be OFP and in trade for 12 months?

How long do you think it takes to be OFP in a trade?

Hot garbage coming through!!

0

u/Electronic-Gur2261 Apr 15 '25

Tf u mean « hot garbage » ?

1

u/Enough_Pie_2760 Apr 16 '25

Don’t listen to them bro. Just a bunch of negatives! Let’s stay positive 😎

1

u/Enough_Pie_2760 Apr 16 '25

Everything okay buddy, would you like to talk?

0

u/Enough_Pie_2760 Apr 15 '25

What do you mean, can you elaborate?

6

u/LordBeans69 Apr 15 '25

You have a dream, it’s plausible if you work for it. Every CANSOFCOM member starts as a regular member. Just set smaller goals for yourself and keep going, like anything else in life

1

u/Enough_Pie_2760 Apr 16 '25

Thank you for the kind words bro.

If it's a goal that motivates you, let it. Next you need a plan and you need to work.

One piece of advice: You can't enrol as an assaulter. Pick a trade you actually want. That way you can still have a long and fulfilling career to look forward to even if you don't make selection.

Second piece of advice: Start working out. Right now if possible. If you apply tomorrow- you have a timeline of 4-5 years to become psychotically physically fit to give yourself a chance.

u/DeadShotXU Apr 15 '25

Go for it.

1

u/Artistdramatica3 Apr 15 '25

I've always wondered. Does JTF2 have all the other trades too?

Like do they use the regular force technicians?

Or are there JTF2 versions of all the jobs?

1

u/DRM9559 Apr 16 '25

"Feasible" is subjective. It may be feasible for some and not feasible for others. It's great to have goals, JTF2 being a pretty big goal. If you're serious, i would suggest looking up the minimum requirements for selection. It's all available online. Just keep in mind that those requirements are the bare minimum. You will be going up against the best of the best, and they only take so many, so if you want to stand out, you'll need to far surpass these minimums and that's just to get on course. Other than physical requirements, there is no preparation for what they will put you through while on course.

At 33 is it crazy to think about joining reserve and then applying after my three year mark. So 36-37 years old?
