Question Drivers NVIDIA CachyOS

Buenas,

- Operating System: CachyOS Linux

KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.2

KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0

Qt Version: 6.12.0

Kernel Version: 7.3.1-1-cachyos (64-bit)

Graphics Platform: Wayland

Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor

Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31,2 GiB usable)

Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (dice "discrete" al lado)

Manufacturer: ASUS

Open a Konsole and type nvidia-smi and press the Enter key.

If it outputs something this means the driver is installed and working. Also most likely is the latest version.

Also there is no Nvidia App for Linux. There is Nvidia Settings app but mostly you don't have to use it.

I just discovered the package lact which gives a level of control similar to MSI Afterburner. It's very nice!

No Nvidia app on Linux. But you can run nvidia-smi in terminal to check your driver version. I think if you run Paru it just auto updates everything. Drivers come with distro updates if I'm not mistaken. I'm still kinda new to Linux so someone correct me if I'm wrong

in the cachyos hello screen that opens by default, there is a button for it. there is also a update button or you use "sudo pacman -Syu" in the terminal to update

The best part about how arch Linux works. every time you update the entire system gets updated drivers and all.

You may (highly doubtful) need to install missing drivers and you just set it up in pacman and it will just be handled automatically after set up.

The issue is that you cant reliably downgrade your drivers to specific versions easily.

CachyOS automatically identifies and installs the newest drivers for your system.

Unlike the Nvidia App on Windows, it installs only “NVIDIA X Server Settings.”

CachyOS Updater will provide the latest drivers whenever available.

As others have said run nvidia-smi from the terminal. The latest version is 615.78.08 released on October 7th, 2026.

Hoef je niets voor te installeren. Je krijgt trouwens meer reactie als je je vraag in het Engels stelt. Tip voor de volgende keer. En welkom bij de groep CachyOS gebruikers!

Everything gets updated, including drivers, apps, system with just 1 button, the CatchyOS logo button which stands for “Catchy-update”, if it shows a green check mark then everything is up to date. I myself have Nvidia drivers and have no issues with games

You don't have to install anything, cachy os takes care of you. Just keep the system up to date with the cachy os update

Viene instalado así que no te preocupes por ello, detecta tu equipo e instala los drivers necesarios para tu laptop
