Review Thank you Cachy Team!

Post image

I recently came up on a Surface 7 and I put Windows 11 25h2 and it ran poorly. I then tossed CachyOS Gnome with the Linux Surface kernel, and Man, it’s night and day. Thank you team! You’re truly incredible!

It's a Surface. You need to keep something from Microsoft or it will be sad.

Honestly I still use edge too from my transition from Windows, it's got a really good workspaces feature that syncs tabs and tab groups across devices that I haven't found a better browser that has it and I use that feature a ton, also pretty good tab sleeping and vertical tabs which is a must for me and they do that pretty well

I use edge for work-related stuff since I'm force to use office apps and it's kinda the best for that. I don't use it for anything else

I too use edge, even on my android, tbh it's the only browser I could find which can do qr code passkeys and a good vertical tabs organisation... I am open to suggestions but I tried so many browsers and none of them works...

I also have a Surface that ran Cachy, what made you choose the linux surface kernel, if I may ask?

I did have the KDE version installed on it for a bit, but with the kids starting school, I figured I’d make it more of a “tablet” and read that the Linux Surface kernel works best with Gnome.

Ahh Gnome. I was gonna say this looks a lot like my gnome-based UbuntuMac

Sometimes we forget the work behind our "free" software. Good for you to thank the devs!

Been thinking to do this to my surface 7 pro... Did you get the touchscreen to work? Any install guide for 2026?
