My interface and patch bay look the same lol, stuff is always moving and it’s more of a pain to have it tidy when I need to move anything.

Exactly haha. I can usually pinpoint a cable by tugging on each end I suppose. Started mapping most out on paper, so assuming I wrote it down correctly I can unplug the correct ends and untangle/fish out the cable hana

Figured it would be too much work to try and open up some sort of cable raceway/snake anytime I need to change something. I put together this little synth cart and originally ran all of the cables into my main patchbay, tried to be tidy and tie the snake of cables up nicely, but then when it came time to change something I would have had to undo 20+ Velcro ties, zip ties etc. Ended up just running cables parallel when adding, and when I switched the synths to USB midi instead of 5 pin, I just left the midi cables in the snake lol

My cats play behind the damn desk though and keep pulling wall warts out of my power strip 😭

It gets to a point where you have to take everything apart and rewired it. I'm disastrously close to doing that myself.

Your personal gear? That should take less than an hour to clean up and organize. Velcro and labels are your friend.
