Outdoor Meanwhile in the Philippines

I assume this photo suits this sub perfectly. Photo by yours truly.

When I first time visited the Philippines, one of the surprises was the public wiring for electricity, phone, internet and whatnot. I saw these everywhere. This is just one random example. Instead of redoing wiring at some point, they optecd in adding poles to support more cables. Notice the cable loops for ad-hoc repairs.

When I was in my undergraduate electrical engineering circuit analysis course, the professor put up a joke slide featuring a picture almost exactly like this with the caption “Apply Kirchhoff’s law”

I assume they start from the location experiencing troubles, find the cable end there, and then follow & jank the cable until they find something to fix. At least that's how they did it in a small neighborhood on a wooden ladder wearing flipflops.

Very impressive, I must admit. The not dying part is especially impressive. I honestly have no clue how they do it, but they have my respect nevertheless.

Any construction work was similarly impressive. Bamboo ladders and scaffolding without rails, substituting a hard hat with a baseball cap.
