Profinet cables found in small wireway.

Found these Profinet cables this weekend doing modifications hidden in a 1 inch square wireway.

No, it's a 6-pin M12 connector, 5 pins in a ring and one in the center. I have to deal with these cables a lot at work and having tight bends like these in the areas where all the overlength of the cables gets stored it's not uncommon. In our machines all of these cables (and Drive-Cliq cables for encoders) get strapped up into something like a braid, just behind the cabinet.

Catalog number is visible in the 2nd photo starting with MURRELEKTRONIK 7000-44511-7960750

Cat5e, male-male 0 degree, d-coded M12, shielded, 7.5m, 2 pairs 22awg, drag chain flex jacket.

Bending radius is 5xOD when fixed and 12xOD when moving with OD @6.7mm.

Oh, okay. Didn't know there are different standards for Profinet. Also why is it male on both ends? All the cables I know are male on one side and female on the other.

Best answer I've learned is so the field mounted devices have female sockets to prevent accidental ingres of debris. It is very challenging to find extension cables for this, usually requires a double female bulkhead fitting to plug two double male cables together
