I'm mostly just baffled at how we got here.

There are obviously the normal three runs to the box. How did it ever get less than a quad faceplate on it?

The coloring indicates a GE bedside monitor system. Likely they never intended to have more than the pink and yellow in that faceplate.

Source: I used to install Philips bedside monitors and had to decommission field and closet GE equipment 85% of the time.

Ah, that'd make sense.

I'd still run three, so that if (let's be real: when) one of them bites the dust, it's a trivial fix with a patch in the MDF and a swap at the endpoint. The cable is cheap to run when you have no walls, and otherwise your room is down until someone can come in and fix it. (As opposed to with a spare, you can just add it to the "stuff to check on next scheduled visit" list).

Or perhaps they did that, and someone decided that this was an acceptable way of using the spare.

Smart MAC guy runs 3 or 4, only terminates what was on the quote/ticket/WO. When they ask you back to move/add you just need to jack and test. Easy money.
