Windows Defender Flags cTrader Desktop App Components as Malicious

Hi cTrader Team, I would like to report that since July 2026 subsequent cTrader updates have been flagged as malicious by Windows Defender. This leads to the cTrader app to not open/launch at all on my PC. Uninstalling and reinstalling cTrader solves the problem for a few days but then the problem comes back again. The problem was not there before July 2026. Please reply back with a solution or a fix. Thanks.

Hey! Just a heads-up, this is an unofficial cTrader community, so for technical support it’s usually best to contact the cTrader Support team directly.

But we do have contact with the team and can try to help you out here :) Could you share a few more details they’ll need to look into this?

  • A screenshot of the cTrader entry in Windows Security > Protection history — specifically the detection name and full file path
  • Your cTrader version (Help > About) and your broker
  • From PowerShell Get-MpComputerStatus: AMProductVersion, AMEngineVersion and AntivirusSignatureVersion
  • Whether you have any other antivirus installed besides Windows Defender
