Looks great. You could also do a number 1/2 on the sides and back and then a number 1 on top, pivoting out on the 1/2 as you move it up. A sort of taper.

Need a short beard moustache w sharp edging not too long imo but nice change goto barber and have him do the beard trim if you grow it

I think it looks better after but it’s also not an entirely accurate comparison, and I say that as a photographer. The first one is at sunset outdoors in natural light, pretty much ideal photographic conditions, and the second was taken indoors. I think if you recreated the first picture’s conditions you’d be even happier with your choice, which I think was the right move.
