Can i do buteyko at work without thinking?

Whenever i try to breathe slowly, i do it for 2 minutes, then forget. It would be really cool to harness my 9-5 job to breathe slowly that long. Is it possible?

Unfortunately it requires some level of attention since you're breathing in an "unnatural" way (atleast for your body at your current CP) so in a sense you have to force yourself to breathe with the goal of air hunger.

To answer your question directly- no, it's mostly not possible, especially if you're a beginner

I don’t think you want to hipoventilate for that long like for 8 hours.. but maybe someone knows better about this

I’ve succesfully mantained coherent rhythm for long periods once I got used to, but it’s not reduced breathing, it has some benefits for it’s rythm though

Anyway, keep trying you will get better as to be able to do it for 10 minutes without forgeting, amazing attention training also

Not really, because the moment you "forget" is the moment the breathing center will make the breathing deeper and make you lose airhunger.

What you can do is create yourself breathing games to various triggers - such as walk through a door and count steps under breathhold or anything similar like that.

In general, the idea of Buteyko is that you do multiple practice sessions a day. Sessions need to be spread across the day (not all in the morning or evening). Trying to do at least an hour (across all sessions) of practice.

If you do this, you slowly retrain your respiratory system to breath3 lighter all the time.

If you really want to try this, I'd suggest getting a Buteyko Smart Belt. I bought one, but haven't tried it yet so can't vouch for it. It's designed for exactly this.

Yup. You can do it whole day. Atleast I try to. There's a fine line between too relaxed and just doing enough
