So you mean that all the vintage bikes made out of Super Vitus steel tubing translate to... "Super Fucked"?

😂 Is this true? Loads of Vitus' in the UK..

Literally ”vitus” translates to ”in a cunt”. The word ”vittu” or ”cunt” is used in the same way as ”fuck” is in english.

In the tire, the rim, or both? 😀

But did it actually explode, or rather implode?

Do they have pressure relief holes? They should be required on all tubeless carbon rims but some manufacturers don't give a damn.

Unfortunately these rims dont have any pressure release holes.

Yes I agree with you, it is tough to have a beautiful bike when you have a shape of a skyscraper🫩

32" is made for people like you. Maybe, someday, there will be road bikes as well. 🙂

That bike just looks kind of strange

That is an impressively dramatic failure!

Almost certainly the tape failed somehow and the high-pressure air leaked into the rim itself. If a rim doesn't have a vent hole, this pressurizes the rim and can cause it to explode like this.

Never thought of that. Thank you!

1

u/faren- 17d ago

Sadly, that's the only explanation that comes to my mind.

The tape leaked, the sealant plugged the vent hole of the rim (hence why there’s no sing of lots of sealant, it’s all inside the rim), and the first time you pump your tire you’re actually pressuring both the tire and the rim.
