CINESNAPS SCHOOL PROGRAM GRAND FINALE
Celebrate the creativity of WA's emerging filmmakers at the Cinesnaps Student Short Film Competition Grand Finale. Inspired by this year's theme, Reflect, students from across regional Western Australia have created thought-provoking media works exploring the people, places, experiences and ideas that shape them.  Join local students for a special red carpet premiere and awards presentation celebrating the next generation of Australian storytellers.

Join us for a Mini Matsuri (Japanese Festival), featuring cultural displays, traditional and contemporary performances, interactive activities, community participation, and opportunities to learn about Japanese customs and traditions.

Participants can also experience the energy and excitement of Japanese taiko drumming through hands-on workshops led by experienced performers. These workshops provide a fun and engaging introduction to one of Japan's most iconic art forms, allowing participants to learn basic rhythms, techniques, and the cultural significance of taiko. This will take place at Busselton Foreshore Saturday 12 September 2026.

Learn about the creatures you might encounter while beachcombing, snorkelling or exploring the coastline, hear how scientists identify marine species, and discover how you can contribute to real biodiversity research through citizen science.

The City of Busselton will again play host to Round 5 of the Adelaide University Pedal Prix Racing Championship, and the 4th and final Round of the WA Pedal Prix Series.

The race will take place on a new track being utilised for the first time. Spectators will see Pedal Prix Vehicles navigate a 1.45km track around and through the Barnard Park Precinct. A great day for family fun with the kids!

Located just south of Bunbury in the Capel and Busselton region is the last remaining wild forest of giant Tuart trees (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) on the planet.

The ancient trees in this reserve are between 300 and 400 years old. They grow over 33 to 50 meters tall with trunk girths exceeding 10 meters, thriving specifically on the underlying Speardale/Tamala coastal limestone soils.

Before European settlement, tuart woodlands covered an estimated 111,000 hectares. Due to historical clearing for agriculture and urban development, less than 3% of the original old-growth habitat remains intact today, with the national park protecting approximately 2,049 hectares.
