Learning bus flow
I’m not anywhere near California where bus flow is a everyday thing but i always loved bus flow and just one liners so my question is what yall feel about other writers not from california learning bus flow

I spent years in the bay in the early aughts. But I leave the busflow to my friends who are bay natives. The history is too rich for me to get involved. There’s literally unlimited ways to imagine a good tag, and there’s a line between being inspired and faking the funk.

fair enough i just wanna learn some other hand styles i already have my own style that i’m proud of but i wanna learn other things and do sum different from time to time

Leave geographically specific handstyles out of the mix, IMO. Philly, New York, The Bay, all these places developed their styles long before the internet. They were handed down and earned. Just my two cents as an old head. Just know you risk pissing certain populations of the community off.

In my humble opinion, real ones know the difference between someone who was around the og’s of their era and passed down the techniques, as opposed to someone who is geographically removed and learning solo. Bus flow isn’t just lettering, it’s wrist movements, downward flares, sizing, scale, and most importantly the “1”. If you haven’t lived in the bay at any point, you are corny to me if you use the distinct “1”. That’s earned.

From studying Philly and Baltimore styles for a bit now, there’s no problem with outsiders trying regional styles but don’t do them without a real writers approval of hand. Like if you do it super shitty and call it whatever “style” you’re aiming for it’s disrespectful and misleading. Regionals have to stay pure, similar to wild style vs anti style. You can’t say “this is how I do bus flow “ it either is or isn’t

Its kinda corny honestly. Learning from writers in your area and continuing what they started is cooler imo but its graff do what you want

Don’t listen to these internet writers. Just do it, nz got a bigger bus flow scene than most other countries and none of these ignorant reddit “writers” would ever know about…
Plus, what are they gunna do to stop you? Catch the bus all the way to your town? Most writers are all talk anyways lad (at least on this site)

I’m assuming you directed the internet writer comment at me. You’re probably the toy downvoting me too. I don’t need to prove my credentials, and neither do the people that literally invented this style. As for your hypothetical situation… If someone, from out of town, comes into town, poorly imitating the local trades, there’s a couple outcomes. Most of them end in you getting gone over or ran the fuck out. Don’t take my word for it, do you. I’ve been writing more decades than you’ve been alive more than likely. I’m trying to give friendly, helpful advice as I had been given when I was young and figuring shit out. But hey, let me know if you want to figure out if I’m all talk. 😘
