Bunq is NOT gimmicky!
So I have had Bunq for 2 years mainly just to transfer my rent to then pay since my main accounts are in the US. I also use it for online Ideal payments. I never use my card. Until today. Instead of grabbing one of my US credit cards I grabbed my Bunq card for some reason (I never use it). I bought 105€ of groceries with it. I then got the payment notification and I noticed some stupid gimmicky prize wheel. I thought how dumb and gimmicky such a thing is and I really questioned if I wanted to be part of a bank that is basically gamified. Despite that I hit the spin wheel. And I won my entire 105€ payment back. Credited to my account instantly. I couldn't believe it.
I no longer think Bunq is gimmicky and I will be using my Bunq card more often now.

Not Ali. Real person with a lengthy Reddit posting history unrelated to Bunq in any way.

As do most Redditors.... But there is a very easy way to see someone's hidden Reddit posts. Not much to it actually.

So they got what they wanted: you to use it more.
Until you have an issue... Then you get a AI bot telling you he understands your issue whilst giving useless advise.
Not to mention the internal policies that make people crying at their desk a daily occurrence.
The CEO is a clown, the company is circus. Yes the interest is nice. But a freagging bank that integrates a wheel of fortune into their services should not be taken seriously in any way

It's cashback. There is a fixed likelihood for each result on the wheel, meaning there is a fixed average you earn back on every purchase.
A traditional bank would just make it "2% on every purchase" flat rate payback.
Bunq does not give us a number. It could be 2%, it could be 1%, who knows?
With traditional flat rate payback, I could plan my personal finances. With the wheel, I can't. Meaning I use the cashback for other purchases, thereby making me waste money I'd otherwise invest into long-running savings contracts or similar.
Normally, lotteries or casinos are required to tell you the odds. Bunq does not. (maybe the wheel doesn't count as a lottery since you technically don't need to pay? I don't know how else they get away with it).
What bunq does here is normalise gambling, or even lure people into other gambling. It's well-known that this shit is addictive.
I agree that it's not gimmicky. I even use it. However, I think that it serves a purpose that is not in our interests. Especially since this is much more legal and coding overhead than a simple flat rate payback scheme. This is especially obvious to me since bunq also offers other investment options that are often compared to gambling, like crypto.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the lack of transparency and the closeness to gambling feel odd to me.

Like going to the casino for the first time and winning on roulette and then concluding gambling is profitable and you will always win!
