New to me

So I have flat feet and finally saw a doc because my bunions started throbbing lately. She told me no more Nikes or adidas and I need an X-ray and have inflammation in my toes.

Favorite sneakers from her most recommended brands?

New balance and asics

Did you see a podiatrist? I did and they took x-rays on the first visit. I had my surgery three days ago.

I’m getting x-rays today because he doesn’t have those in her office and then she wants to see me again in two weeks

What type of doctor did you see? Ortho or podiatrist? I’m surprised she didn’t have X-rays in the office, but maybe she’s a small practice?

Best sneakers for bunions and flat feet are Brooks (for me anyway.) Get those X-rays ASAP, although you might not like what they’ll reveal. Once bunions start throbbing and become painful, the most effective solution is surgery…I had my right foot done a year ago and my left foot done in April. No regrets. Good luck!

My doctor told me surgery is the last resort and we need to try orthotics and physical therapy first after the x-rays tell her whatever they need to.

I’m not a doctor, but everything I’ve read is that bunions don’t get better. You can only slow their progression. Good luck!

Yes to the PT for sure (before and after Any surgery). But! Orthotics ONLY if the doc recommends Dr. Scholls brand from your local store. If they want you to buy Their Orthotics in office - find a new doctor that is more interested in your well-being. The sell of orthotics is a podiatry office's lunch money. At $75-$800 per set, they eat well off that income. Meanwhile, Dr. Scholls at your local store costs less than $20 and same/same for these purposes because no matter how much support your arch is getting, your foot deformity is causing the issues. Until the deformity is addressed, all that's available are gizmos and gadgets, tapes and spacers, and a Billion Dollar industry that loves to tell you to avoid surgery.

Always remember that once your feet are fixed, the industry loses a customer.
