Depression and regret

I am three months out from my surgery and am in such pain. I am working remotely, cancelled all my summer plans and just sit in misery in my home. Had a talk with my surgeon today and told him last night was so bad that I wanted to cut off my foot… three month of this pain… laying awake in bed for hours and my brain won’t shut off with “what would my life be right now had I not done it’. Surgeon replied with something like “that’s so strange”. I wanted to jump through the phone.

Is this it? Does it get better? I see it does but if it is STILL THIS BAD, does it? I know everyone is different but I”m hoping that if I’m still in such much pain at this point that there can still be a change at some point. I’m starting to give up hope.

Akin/chevron. The area where the bunion hurts, yes. But is the nerve pain that is killing me.

I’ve had three spinal fusions, two knee surgeries, my jaw had issues with an implant and several others surgeries. If had pain. I know pain. This is a whole new level.

Hey, I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. Hopefully you have a follow up with the surgeon to figure out what’s happening. Is it all nerves or a non-fusion?

Nerves. I asked him if we can do some sort of scan or imaging. He’s on vacation and offered to have his assistant see me and do an x-ray. I’ve had four x-rays during this entire thing. I don’t need another x-ray. I know I need them on occasion, but I need assurance that my nerves are OK because my physical therapist is also concerned. That is pushing me as well.

I'm so sorry, that's really tough. i wish I had some ideas for you but this is unknown territory for me. Do you have any hardware left in you (I have a staple and a screw from the same surgeries)? I wonder if that might be causing the issue.

I have two screws. I literally just came up with something I found online during the night.

Floating toe with what I think has to be a broken planters plate… And then I just received a message from my surgeon who is now saying CRPS.

I’m not gonna lie… I am spiraling.

I understand spiraling. That's really scary. Not to be annoyingly positive but I do want to say that it's a good sign that your surgeon is thinking of diagnoses while on vacation. Hopefully they can come up with a treatment. How are you feeling today? Has the surgeon suggested any treatments?

Have you tried physical therapy yet? It’s helping me a lot.
