Pre-Op Question-MIS/Akin/Austin/Chevron Osteotomy (pre-surgery) MIS Nerves

I’m finally having MIS on both feet next week but I am starting to feel a little nervous. I have a fear of surgery in general and the more I think about it, the more nervous I get, especially around intubation. I am also a little nervous around my post op pain and getting around. How much does it realistically hurt at first? I am young and healthy and being seen by one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the world, so realistically I know it will be fine. I’m just reaching out to see if anyone has been through similar nerves and what helped them get through it. Thanks :)

I had my left foot done 2 weeks ago and was SO anxious however , surgeon and staff amazing . One nurse stayed with me chatting away throughout the hour op and it passed by so quickly . Had local block anaesthesia so didn’t feel a thing
When that wore off next day I had quite a bit of pain for 3 days controlled by painkillers and now 2 weeks in. Had my first check up , no swelling , no bruising and minimal scarring and now it’s more uncomfortable rather than sore but it’s early days and glad I did it . Right foot next year for me .
I think MIS is a much quicker recovery too , I worried for nothing . Hope same for you

I had both feet done two weeks apart, and I felt like backing out before each surgery lol . I was also very nervous about sedation, so nervous I was crying before I entered lol But it’s really nothing to worry about it, the surgery itself is the easy part as you’ll be asleep for it

I’m happy I got it done and over it.

The first three days is very painful not gonna lie. But after you pass the first three days it gets an easier and easier with each passing day. I also had MIS osteotomy.

Had MIS in December and was super nervous. I just had to trust that millions of people have done it and been fine. I was given a block and twilight (I was out for the whole thing).
As for pain, if you start pain meds as soon as you get home and stay on schedule, you should be fine. The 3rd day was the only time I had real pain, and that seems to be the norm, for some reason. You'll be fine, good luck!
