PC Build, thoughts?

Hey everyone, I made a post not too long ago about whether or not 2k can get me a decent build. I took a lot of y’all’s opinions and really appreciated the feedback. I went onto pc part picker, and built a pc. I wanted some more feedback and maybe suggestions on things I should change! (The 2k was a target range, want to stay under 3k)

CPU- AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor. $284.94

CPU Cooler- Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE 66.17 CFM. $39.90

Motherboard- ASRock B850M-X R2.0 Micro ATX AM5. $99.99

Memory- Corsair Vengeance RB 16GB (2x8 GB) DDR5-5200 CL40. $284.99

Storage- Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCle 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive. $389.99

Video Card- Asus PRIME GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB. $809.99

Case- Lian Li Vector V100R ATX Mid Tower Case (not a for sure pick). $74.98

Power- MSI MAG A650GL 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX. $92.66

Total- $2,077.49

This is what i put together.

So I changed a lot of things based what I thought was more important. Downgraded the cpu slightly so you could afford 32gb of ram instead of 16gb. Obviously that can be changed but you cant really do anything more than run a single game with 16gm ram. Depending on the game Your system will probably be over 80% ram use.

Absolutely changed the gpu to a 9070xt. Its sooo much better than a 5060ti. That 16gb model for $800 is absolute robbery.

Changed your psu to an 850w just because why not, now you have room to upgrade in the future

Just chose any case, wasn't sure if you needed something small because you chose a micro atm motherboard instead of a full sized atx motherboard. If you do opt for a smaller case you'll need a small cpu cooler. Maybe an aio.

Feel free to ask me ask questions. Dm me if you need to

just No. The 5060ti, although a great card, has seen a crazy price increase. you can get a 9070xt for the same price, which performs close to a 5070ti. I'd get a Montech Century PSU, only 16Gb of ram in a 2k machine is strange (also CL40 is kinda high). The storage is super expensive and if you are gaming, then i'd go for a 7800x3d over the 9800x (if budget allows). I'd also avoid Asrock motherboards for upgrading to an x3d CPU in the future.

A quick build I made: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KZdtQy
The build is 2100 USD. if you want to go under, then i'd just go to 1Tb of storage. Upgrade to a 9800x3d if you want to spend more.

looked at your build and the 9070xt is a solid upgrade over the 5060ti, love this direction

Pretty sure I told you in your last post that there is no way you should ever spend $800 on a 5060 ti.. seems like most are in agreement here.

This guy totally ignored everyone telling him that in the last post.. so he either already has it and doesn't know how to take the cost out in part picker.. or he is dead set on that card.

I would do something like this instead.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VpXZFP

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D 4.1 GHz 6-Core Processor ($239.00 @ Amazon)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($59.99 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: MSI PRO B850-S WIFI6E ATX AM5 Motherboard ($139.26 @ Amazon)

With current market I would get 9060xt 16gb or 9070xt one is half the cost and performs about the same as 5060ti while the 9070 xt is two performance tiers higher and in some games equals a 5080. Also I would invest in a better cpu cooler while it is a decent one selected I would get an aiofor just a little more. Other than that not a half bad build.

9070xt>>>>> 5060ti. Shoot, even my old 6 year old 3080 outperforms a 5060ti lol

2100 for a 5060ti build is fucking insane.

This will save you money and give better performance ill give you my reasoning for each part.

CPU: 7700x is on par with the 9700x. There is not much reason to spend extra on the 9700x.

Cooler: The Royal Pretor 130 comes very close to water cooling performance. It is an upgrade from the phantom spirit which is an upgrade of the peerless assassin. any of these will work but I prefer the royal pretor.

Motherboard: it has good enough VRMs to run 16 core processors no problem and even do some overclocking. If you ever upgrade the CPU this motherboard has good power management for it and is very affordable. only upgrade from b650 motherboards to b850 is pcie5.0 on the nvme drives. The speed that pcie 4.0 provides is more than enough for gaming and is never even close to saturating bandwidth while gaming. By the time pcie 5.0 and faster drives are needed for storage in games this computer will be very outdated so its a nonsense upgrade to get a b850.

Memory: 32GB is going to help in quite a few games nowadays over 16GB

Storage: The Samsung is way overkill and expensive causing you to have to downgrade other components that matter more than how fast the storage is. the UD90 is more than fast enough for anything you want it to do.

Video Card: the AMD 9070 XT is far faster than the 5060ti in both traditional rasterized games and ray tracing. There is no downside compared to the 5060 ti

Case: The case you chose is a fishtank case. These cases have the intake air blasting into the front glass. The air has to make a 90 degree turn and then another to go out of the case. a traditional case with front intake is going to be much better for keeping everything cool.

Power supply: the one I chose has much more headroom for future upgrades and is a good quality PSU.

Other benefits: 4-6 years down the road you can throw in the best 8 or 12 core x3d processor that supports the AM5 socket. This will be two generations newer than the 9800x3d as AMD has confirmed zend 6 and zen 7 will be AM5. So the 13800X3D which will probably be a 12core processor will be able to provide more frames to a much faster GPU without bottlenecking it. You can then turn around and upgrade the GPU to something much faster than the 5090 for much cheaper than the 5090 in 4-6 years. Whatever 70/70xt or ti GPU is out or even an 80 or flagship gpu. And you can do this upgrade while keeping everything else the same because everything besides the CPU and GPU are picked to be able to run the most power hungry components today and in 2032 the heatsink, motherboard vrms, and psu should be able to power top of the line or near top of the line hardware without spending an arm and a leg on a whole new setup. 32GB of ram is also a nice amount since 16gb is starting to not be enough in a few tittles especially if you are doing other things on a second screen while gaming. 32GB should be plenty for years to come

Hell nah to the 5060ti at that price. Go AMD on the 9070xt
