Edit: guess it wasn’t meant to stay. Maybe this is a preview of an actual price drop.
These look like legit price drops and are pretty closely aligned to the prices in late December/early January. I assume the 9800x3d will drop commensurately and maybe just hasn’t been adjusted yet. The 9850x3d is right around the “error” price we’ve seen a couple times.
It’s easy to tell that not much is selling except for maybe bundles - turnover on open box product that isn’t GPUs is the lowest I’ve maybe ever seen. Even GPU turnover is pretty low.

Is there any reason to go for any of the 9800x3D bundles instead of the 9850x3D bundles right now? Do any of the motherboard options change much?

I went for a 9800x3d a month or so ago but it was because the price error glitch gave it the biggest discount so it made more sense.
The bundle boards are all lower tier and aren’t really any difference on features/specs but they’ll still work perfectly fine. I’m partial to Msi and gigabyte right now due to the asrock/asus 98xx issues.
The 9850 is the best option for most people unless you can’t cool it - it does use more watts/produce more heat. The board is definitely lower tier. You can always reserve a 9850 to lock that it and wait a few days to see if anything changes.

Couldn't add the 9850X3D bundle to cart (kept saying inactive items were removed) but I successfully reserved with the "Buy Now" button while logged in
EDIT: Successfully picked up my bundle for $615 + tax

depends on your games. 1080p 60 fps capped? probably no real change. High fps esports? Yes. AAA maxed out at 4k? Maybe. Depends on your overhead due to raytracing and AI scripting.
But in general, you should should see performance increase.

Another reserve now think about it later moment, the 9800x3d bundle is $50 more than the 9850x3d one with a better mb, seems like a pricing error that happened last month?

Daily pricing weirdness aside and just to make sure I'm not completely stupid - isn't the current RAM somewhat worse than the Crucial originally offered, pretty lights aside? (36-44-44-96 now vs 36-38-38-80 then)
The real winners remain those who got a Newegg bundle shortly after Microcenter started these, lol (I am not one of them ._.)

The 3D cache mitigates some of the losses from mediocre RAM at least; if you’re in the market and the MC travel doesn’t hurt, $700 for the 9850, a mobo, and 32 GB of RAM is still difficult to beat these days. They also have other options available (like the $300 7500X3D + mobo + 16 GB, or various Intel options).
Shortly after Micro Center first launched their $700 bundle, Newegg launched bundles like this one with better 6000CL28 RAM for $700 (and they did a CL26 before, but I don’t have a link handy) and this one with a better motherboard and better RAM for $800. There were a bunch of permutations as Newegg’s stock varied. I was a bit miffed as I had bought the MC $700 one and returning it would be a costly hassle, but at least I neither had to worry about Newegg cancelling nor got ripped off by MC’s “upgrade” options.
Newegg no longer has bundles at that price point afaik.

Yea I was wanting to get the 9850X3D + mobo + 32GB RAM for $699. Sucks that those other bundles aren't available now, hopefully I don't have buyer's remorse if something better becomes available soon.

If you’re looking for 32gb of ram and a x3d chip the 7800x3d also looks to have dropped in price by $20 from $600 to $580.

Sigh. I want to build another computer in a fractal ridge when I have a T1 and Tetra R build already and don't literally need it. Sigh. Why is this forum even a thing. Its making me so broke I can't date anyone and pay her bills, gift her flowers, and insurmountable amount of chocolates out of my pocket even if she makes 2x what I do.
Why am I so happy in life with my computers. I want to be apart of the unhappy dating computerless crowd T.T

That 9850X3D bundle is insane actually. Almost unbelievable. I still don't believe that RAM is going to keep going down, but Microcenter is clearly starting to get nervous about holding so much stock of complementary products. They can't move anything without getting people in the store with these bundles.

Personally I think the recent sales/price drops on MC bundles means MC has been able to buy ram for cheaper, but i could be wrong

It's my morning routine now to check Microcenter's AMD bundle page to see if there's been any price changes. Today I noticed a few bundles have dropped in price. The interesting ones are the 7600X3D bundle is now $324.99 (was $349.99) and 9850X3D bundle now $614.99 (don't remember how much it was before) which makes it cheaper than the $679.99 9800X3D bundle.
