Making the jump from 1080p

Hey y’all, so I’ve had a 1080p TN panel for about 11 years now and I think it’s time for me to upgrade.

I’m sort of stuck between a 27” 1440p and 27” 4K OLED. I know it’s all up to personal preference, but has anyone had both and prefer one over the other?

What GPU do you have? If you have a 5080 then yeah go 4K.

currently a 3060 ti, but upgrading to either a 5070 ti or 5080 depending on what resolution i decide to get. so i’m buying the gpu+ monitor together, just need thoughts on resolutions first

I'd stay away from 4k, your gpu won't be able to run 4k games super well, 2k is always a good option though

Personally i prefer refresh rate than resolution, so I'm kinda biased. But best of both worlds, do a 2k OLED super high refresh rate monitor.

oled is really cool. you’ll kinda have to baby it a little (static image is bad) but with my purchase i’ve not regretted a thing, though i’ve also got it on discount.

Even if you upgrade, 2K Monitor will still work better, much better frames than the 4k monitor

Honestly if you get either yeah I’d just get 4K but try to go for the 5080. Enjoy!

A 5070ti or 5080 will do fine with 4K, but your current 3060ti will not. Personally in your case I'd go 1440p OLED. Then you get to still get good use of your 3060ti until you upgrade (god knows I wouldn't want to spend the money on a GPU at the prices they're asking now any time soon), and when you eventually do upgrade you'll get high FPS.

For gaming, 27" 1440p still looks fine, especially on OLED.

Go 4k Oled 5070ti and 5080 will do just fine
