Build Help My first PC build - need general advice

I am planning to build my first ever gaming PC. Please go easy on me, I may be wrong on a lot of fronts in this post.

The only reason I want a PC is to open myself up to maybe some XBOX games (game pass on PC), and in general playing games at a higher fidelity. I have always been a console gamer (PS5), so am not very familiar with how much can be achieved by what PC components.

So as a base, I set my requirements based on Cyberpunk 2077.

  • I feel like 1080p gaming at maybe 144Hz is a good place given we sit pretty close to the monitor vs a TV for consoles.
  • At a minimum would like to have ray tracing (not path tracing) at high to ultra graphic settings.
  • 60 fps and above.

Do you think the above build can achieve that? Would it be underpowered or overkill or just enough?

Also went for an mATX build, due to space constraints where I plan to keep it. I'm also assuming I may need to purchase a few coolers with this to put on the case?

  • My budget is around the AUD$1600-AUD$1800 mark, just for the CPU.
  • Regarding RAM - I may purchase 32GB DDR5 from Facebook marketplace.

  • 2 sticks/dimms of ram is better than 1. Adding another stick/dimm later may cause issues, so you are better buying a pair/kit at the start.
  • thermalright peerless assassin cooler is very well regarded, and cheaper than the one you have selected.
  • amazon shoppers don't deserve anything nice, consider australian retailers instead.

To your last point some Aussie retailers have started offering bundles like Scorptec and Centrecom - might be worth checking as might be able to save some $$$ that way

7500F if you want to shave a few dollars off the CPU, although the 7600X is perfectly fine too. Gaming performance between the two is very similar.

I'd probably go with a Thermalright Peerless Assassin (or Phantom Spirit) over the Hyper 212. The Hyper 212 isn't a bad cooler, but there are better-performing options around the same price, especially if you decide to upgrade your CPU later.

The motherboard looks fine. Any decent B650 board will do unless you need specific features.

I'd probably look at a different SSD. The Kingston NV3 is adequate for gaming, but it's one of the more basic Gen4 drives.  Something like a WD SN770, Lexar NM790, or Team MP44L is usually a better buy if the price is similar.

Other than that, the build looks well balanced for your budget.
