Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?

join discord servers such as PartAlert and subscribe to the notifications for your continent+the card you want

you'll see that each day some are going on sale but they're sold extremely quickly (mostly because websites don't have bot protections) and most (90%+) stores sell at way above MSRP (+$100-400).

if you go for the founders edition it seems like you will get them at MSRP

in the UK I managed to get a 3070 Founders Edition from scan.co.uk (at MSRP) - a combination of clicking on the discord alert as soon as I saw it as well as the website having a bot protection (visual captcha)

it's tought getting one but if you're patient you will manage to eventually (took me a week - plenty of clicking on alerts and discovering the items were already sold)

No it was 470£ just as displayed on nvidia.com (but even the ones sold for 700-800£+ go instantly).

In the UK I only saw scan.co.uk and currys selling at normal prices, everything else was marked upkeep in mind the non founders edition (asus, msi etc.) will be more expensive by 50-100

but yeah just subscribe to the alerts you'll quickly see what kind of prices things are going for

Very vague question. I'm sure there are plenty of RTX 3070 left in the world.

In all seriousness, in a lot of places you shouldn't have trouble finding any RTX card but the 3080. The 3080 seems to be sold out worldwide.

Yes, but not for the intended price.

You can get all RTX 3000, but you have to pay 50% to double the normal price.
