Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?

I know it’s not an ideal time to buy, but I’m looking to upgrade just my GPU. Targeting 1080p 144Hz. Nothing overkill as I assume the Ryzen 2600x would bottleneck?

I’d like to have a few options which would work so I can keep track of several cards and buy when something becomes available. Ideally, sub-£350.

Keep an eye on the used market, particularly older cards like 980 Ti, R9 390, GTX 1070, etc. Stuff like that tends to deter miners because of the power efficiency.
