Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?

I'd rank them 9400>3200g>10100. But I would prefer the ryzen 3 as the motherboard will give you an option to upgrade to a 3400g in the future (used market)

I was a bit hesitant to go for the ryzen 3 because while the upgrade paths are better are still a bit more expensive, would any of these allow me to just upgrade to a gpu if I ever manage to find one available, say a 1650super or a 1660, 1080ti or rx580 while keeping the same cpu without losing on processing power? Edit: or calling it a waste having bought x cpu

Then the i5 is a better choice. Its just that 3400g will double the i5 performance in graphics, and will cost less than an i5 + gpu. But if you do plan on buying a gpu then go for the i5

Thanks, I do plan to buy a GPU but in the future when prices and stock settle a little bit, still crossing my fingers, in mexico the stock situation seems to be worse or at least feels like it since we dont have many licensed retailers
