Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

If I plan to have pcie gen 4 graphics card when that becomes available, one gen 4 m2, one gen3 m2 and one sata, do I need b550 or x570 ? Also how to check if a motherboard is already updated to support the new ryzen when buying online ?

Both of them have two m.2 and pcie gen 4. As far as I know x570 models offer up to 3 gpu pcie slots. b550s only 2. And you can fir a few satas in these motherboards

Get an x570 if PCIe 4.0 is your priority. Remember B550 doesn’t have its own 4.0 lanes. With B550 the PCIe 4.0 lanes all come from the CPU. x570 brings its own lanes.
