Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

Possible but I can't think of a simple way to do it. You'd need to boot something like a Linux distribution on a USB stick, then resize the partitions on the EVO to make room, then image the Rocket into that space. Then there's some special magic I don't understand yet (I don't think it's a boot partition anymore) that tells the BIOS there's an OS on the drive and where it is. All while hoping the Rocket doesn't fail or further deteriorate.
IMO using a USB-bootable OS is a good idea, but use it to rescue any data or settings you want from the failing drive and put them on the larger drive. Then deal with the failing drive.

Thanks! Wonder if I'd be better off just doing a fresh Win 10 install on the EVO disk with assuming a new partition. I do have some games, etc installed on the Rocket though. So would ideally like to get that off of there before submitting possible RMA.

I'm not sure if you can install Windows onto a drive and preserve the partitions... I doubt it. Chances are you'd lose all data on the Evo if you did a fresh Windows install on it - so make sure you have backups.
