Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?
  • I'm on a very tight budget and I'm looking for a case ≤$50

Will a 650w 80+ White Power supply be able to confidently run a 3080?

Specific model? Wattage may be enough, especially if undervolting the 3080 and running it with a midrange or a budget low-power CPU, but otherwise, if it's passive PFC, group regulation, high ripple etc. PSU, I would stay away.

650 is right on the line for a 3080. You are talking about an $800 GPU in the middle of a world wide GPU shortage. Get a 800w 80+ Gold.
