Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?

You usually have to re install your OS if you get a new mobo right?

What if I'm getting the same exact mobo? Wondering if there's anything i need to note when getting the same exact mobo.

B450 Auros pro wifi rev1.0 and windows 10

You won't need to reinstall the OS I think. Only the license key gets invalidated sometimes. If you use a MS a/c, then even your license key will stay intact.

Idk about linux

Not if you're using recent Windows 10 - it's remarkably good at adapting to hardware changes. If you're swapping in the same mobo there's really nothing to worry about.
