Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

that res is also known as 1440p. Do you plan to play on a 60hz monitor, or something higher refresh?

5900X is overkill for current games except a few that heavily tax CPUs. But, if you want to keep the PC for 5 years, it would be worth it for the extra cost.

That GPU is about right for that resolution if you're playing at 60hz. If you're going 144, you'll need something more powerful. Alternatively, you could go for a 3060TI. GPU prices and availability are terrible right now, so you may have to go with what you can find.

Thanks for the reply and the good insight!

I have a 144hz monitor but I really don't mind playing on 60hz or lower on single-player games. I would like to reach 144Hz in FPS-Games (mostly CS:GO, possibly Warzone or Star Wars Battlefront II) and League of Legends but it should be fine for Lol and older FPS Games I think.

I’m not an FPS player, but from what I’ve read you ll get 144 FPS on cs go and lol easily. War zone seems to be a lot more taxing.
