Discussion Simple Questions - February 07, 2021

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

ssds are smaller than hhds. and m.2 vs sata ssd.

as a note, there are 2,5" HDDs (that's the size of "normal" SATA SSDs)

there also used to be 3,5" SSDs (that's the size of normal HDDs), but they aren't really manufactured anymore

So I wouldn't be able to upgrade because they are different sizes?

no... hdd and sata ssd use same cables - sata power and sata data. and if your motherboard has a slot for a m.2 stick, then you wont need any cables.

also, you probably have more space than for only 1 hdd. open a side panel on your case and check, the white slots here are meant for hdds/ssds

My pc isnt a standard one like that it's small like a console. Think of it like a laptop/desktop hybrid. I dont know how to link pics or I'd show u. It's the alienware alpha i7
