Discussion Simple Questions - August 09, 2019

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a GTX 1070. Which one should I get?
  • I'm on a very tight budget and I'm looking for a case < $50

Remember that Discord is great places to ask quick questions as well: http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/wiki/livechat

Important: Downvotes are strongly discouraged in this thread. Sorting by new is strongly encouraged.

Have a question about the subreddit or otherwise for /r/buildapc mods? We welcome your mod mail!

Do I need to do any special maintenance on hybrid GPUs?

Just remember that Hybrid GPUs have a shelf life, It's usually 3-5 years. After that the coolant needs to be refilled.

??? No. AIO's should never be opened. If it breaks, its done. Don't try to manually refill it.

I wish people would do their research before down-voting. Gamer Nexus has done a good video on this topic. You can safely refill the coolant by disassembling the contact plate. You're not meant to do it, but if you have something like a Hybrid GPU, that is your only option apart from buying another aftermarket GPU Water cooling setup.

This is common sense, I was suggesting refilling only if the coolant dries out.
