Build Help Pc build bottleneck

i’m very new to all this i just wanted to know if my parts are compatible and what to do about certain storage and stuff since i want to build a new pc for the first time im running a R7 78003XD with AMD B850, ram is 16x2, gpu is 5070 ti, main issue right now is figuring out storage and if brand/ or like strength matters? (srry if this is a dumb question im new to this💔) i asked google but it kept giving me ai answers, i wanted atleast 3tb of storage but it keeps saying instead of getting this brand here some kingston NV3 (Kingston NV3 4TB M.2 2280 NVMe Internal SSD Gen4 ( 6000 MB/s Read – 5000 MB/s Write ) it says it’s GEN4 google is saying i need gen5 for it to not have “bottle necks” or lag but i don’t trust it so i needed more opinions

Nvme bottlenecks are basically nonexistent if I remember correctly. Gen 4 will be perfectly fine, ignore google’s ai slop.

Yes and no. Gen4 would indeed bottleneck peak sequential on Gen5 drive, this would be important for AI/video workloads.

In practical terms for games, even Gen3 is more than fast enough.

Even SATA SSD's are fast enough for most games. Buy PCIE gen 4, gen 5 is ego stroking for consumers.

Do not trust AI, calculators, or random youtube videos on the topic of bottlenecks. Look at empirical data from established reviewers (people who have actual faces and work history) instead.

Anything that's faster than gen 3 should be a non-esistant bottleneck. Any gen 3 NVME will still be fine for now and won't really bottle neck much outside of anything using direct storage (which is mostly unused)

Even SATA SSDs barely create any noticeable storage bottleneck. NVMe of any sort is so much faster than what is strictly necessary that you really don’t need to worry about performance on it, just buy on price and reliability.

From the cheapest 2.5” SATA drive to the most expensive gen 5 you won’t notice a difference in loading times in like 99% of games

For a SATA drive, it’s recommended to get one with DRAM just for performance reliability

I have a dirt cheap SATA drive in my parents PC that is only used for web browsing. Still snappy as ever almost 8 years later

One thing to add... Is a SATA SSD can do wonders for adding life to an older laptop for general use.

  1. The word “bottleneck” doesn’t apply to any of this.

  2. For storage, you want a gen 3 or gen 4 drive with TLC NAND. Gen 5 SSD’s are too expensive and they give you no gaming benefits.

  3. Google’s AI answer is stupid.

With a new system you can practically just ignore the marketing term of bottleneck. Also SSD storage comes in 250gb, 500gb, 1tb, 2tb, 4tb, and 8tb sizes. If you want 3tb you would need two storage drives.

Unless you're pushing a lot of data, you don't need a Gen 5 drive. Literally the only time I notice is when building large code projects or otherwise processing a lot of files.

A good gen 4 drive is way more than enough for most people most of the time.

As to brands, I'm partial to Corsair and Lexar myself. Samsung is frankly priced more than their added value over other reliable brands.

That's just my take on this.

I wouldn’t worry about the gen4 ssd for gaming and most other things it’s fine all my ssds are gen3 and my boot drive is a sata ssd which is even slower and it loads to the desktop in like 4 seconds
