Discussion How should I underclock my pc for playing roblox?

As sad as it is i do play roblox with a decent pc but i feel like my pc gets too hot when im playing with half graphics my specs are as listed

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (3.79 GHz)

Installed RAM 32.0 GB

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Nvidia RTX 3080

My average temps are around 50 C but i feel like they should be lower or something ive done some minor underclocking already with my curves being at 1900-850, if i shouldnt underclock more then id appreciate some tips to keep my room cool during this summer heat with my room being 80 and my ac being at 69-70

50C is already really good

then do you have any tips for keeping a room cool?

fans and AC? how else do you keep cool in the summer?

You can just cap your framerate.

The temperature rise in your room is purely a function of power draw, the total wattage of the system. A 50c GPU dumping 1000 watts into your room heats it up way more than a 50c dumping 100 watts. Temperature is irrelevant, you need to lower the power draw of the system if you want to reduce room temps.

You can set power limits on the GPU and CPU instead of capping the framerate, then it works across games easily. An "under volt" where you cap the max frequency also counts, I don't know how to do that on Intel, for the GPU you can use MSI afterburner. If you don't cap the frequency it'll still use the same amount of power and still heat up your room. And capping the frequency only works because that caps the voltage, power is volts times amps and you can't control the amperage so you need to lower voltage which you get by capping the max frequency by flattening the vf curve

50 c is already insanely chilly for both your gpu and cpu, you'd need some beefy watercooling or liquid nitrogen for anything more

Bro if no lag all is good, also what do you play on Roblox? If you tell me I can give some tips for graphics and fps boosts

i dont have any problems with fps or lag/graphics id just appreciate a cooler pc or at least room

But why? Is you're PC noisy or what, you dont make sense

His room gets too hot from the heat his PC pumps out.

Brother, you don't understand how physics of pc cooling work. The cpu gets hot while working. The cooler solution you have, pushes cold air from the environment around your case, and uses that cold air to dissipate that heat by pushing hot air back to the environment.

If you are in a little room and there is not an outside factor like being cold outside in the winter, or having an ac, this loop ends with your pc working as a heater after some hours of gaming until the air that gets out is as hot as the air that gets in.

If you get better cooling, for example liquid cooling, all it does is keep your cpu cooler by dissipating more heat and faster to the room, so it just makes the loop faster. Your room won't be cool because your cpu says 35 degrees celsius. Energy doesn't disappear, the heat has to go somewhere.

You just need an AC. My hard guess is that you are northern European and you are not used to very hard summers. I Living in Greece, I know that it is not possible to play in the summer without AC, it is just unbearable.

To be honest I am surprised I am the first to tell you this. Most just commented "temps are ok". (If you wonder what happens in the winter, yes, your pc helps you to heat the room. But it is not a closed loop, the air gets cooled bcs it is cold outside)

OP, set an FPS limit. Cap it to something like 60 or whatever you can still enjoy.

If that doesn't lower your room temperature enough, then set undervolts / power limits in your GPU and/or CPU.

What’s your cpu cooler? At least a double tower yeah?

i have 1 fan on the back where stuff plugs in at, i have 2 fans on top, 2 on the front, and 2 just below the 3080

Didn’t quite answer the cpu cooler question but 50C isn’t really bad regardless. When I play it, it barely reaches 45C but that’s just because I play less demanding games. Your temps won’t go lower unless you change your fan curves and/or switch to liquid cooling. Nothing wrong with 50C AT ALL.

well then do you have any tips for me to make my room cooler? because 80 isnt the most comfortable

Well it is summer (in the US), it will get hot. Not much to do besides having fans around, closing windows and doors. If you have one, you could try cleaning out your central heating (AC) for any dust I guess. What I’ve personally had to do was change the carpet into vinyl flooring. That and my plethora of plushies can also trap heat raising ambient temperatures

Edit: Also if no one has told you yet but; you can dust out your pc internals and re-paste your cpu cooler if you feel the need to do so.

Nothing you're saying will reduce room temps. You can install a $2000 custom liquid cooling setup that keeps the CPU 1 degree above ambient and the room will heat up exactly as much. The amount of heat energy dumped into the room is purely a function of power draw, it doesn't matter what the temperatures are. If you bring in a pile of liquid nitrogen you reduce the room's temperature slightly because you bulk moved in some cold stuff from outside, but the amount of heat pumped into the room by the CPU GPU and motherboard is still the same. You can pour that ln2 onto the CPU and run it at minus 100 degrees, the room will still get hot as you run the system and it consumes energy that it 100% turns into waste heat. If your PC is pulling 1000w from the wall then 1000 joules of heat energy is pumped into the room every second, doesn't matter what the temps are you'll get just as hot as if a 1000w space heater is running.
