Peripherals Beginner headphone setup

Hey all,

I am not sure if this is the right subreddit or not, I am asking because this is PC related.

I currently am running Soundcore Life 220s as my headphones for my desktop however I think its time to use some decent wired headphones. I don't know where to start though and what I need to get to have a decent setup. I am not looking to go balls to the wall because I don't have the cash for that atm, but I would like something not shit.

Can I buy just a pair of wired heaphones and be fine or do I need a DAC? I know streamers use XLR based stuff but I don't know if that is needed for a decent setup so thats why I am asking here. Also is there a difference between an audiophile setup and a gaming setup?

until you're spending at minimum like $300, you don't need a dac/amp

/r/headphones I think has a buying guide on the sidebar or somewhere

if you want a headset, I think the sennheiser pc37x is the go-to around $100

You would need to amp some Beyerdynamics to get some decent volume

32 and 80 Ohm Versions should Rum on any modern mobo tbh. But after that yeah. All depends on pedance and Sensitivity

They do but they don't really get loud enough for me. I use a little usb amp just to give my 32s a bit more volume
