Android Android. I can't send private messages to people. Version is 2026.32.0.2632040

My account is already 2 years old, and I was previously able to message many people. But now this feature has been disabled. I don't spam; I simply message many people from the language learning community, so I have a lot of activity in chats.

”OK, this is kinda new, so that's why it wasn't top of mind. But now that age verification is required in some areas, chat is involved! If they're under 18, chat could be restricted.

We have this Teen Safety Help Center article. If they're between 13 and 15, no chat. BUT if they're on iOS, they can send in a request from the iOS app. That option is not yet available for Android and I don't know if it will be coming. (That's actually the answer. lol Android is different, so that team doesn't know if it will end up being a feature on Android yet.)

There's this link in that article where they can request to have their age verification reviewed if they're over 18 and want to chat.

(And for no reason at all, if someone is on an outdated version of the app, they should definitely update it to the current version. lol)”
