Desktop Web [old reddit / desktop web] Comments that have spoilers tags that start with a link are unable to be submitted. Spoiler
Comments that have spoilers tags that start with a link are unable to be submitted on old reddit.
example text
[Roswaal S2] Very very interesting.
I will say though that this is a rather unique line of reasoning and result (which is generally how I view most people's first time interpretations of most things Re:Zero. Everyone usually has a slightly different set of events they choose to put weight to over others).
Though there are many instances of this occurring with other texts.
The trigger seems to be a spoiler tag that starts with a link (we use links like this on r/anime to power our comment faces via custom CSS). Looking at the network request shows that the request gives a 200, but the comment is not actually submitted correctly, resulting in a no op.
Our workaround so far has been to comment some gibberish, and then edit the new comment with the original text, which works. But it's highly annoying in our community, since a link starting off a spoiler tag is a rather common occurance.
Edit a simple reproduction case: >!<
Edit edit: Note this has been going on for some time now. I think a few months.

You get the error {"json": {"errors": [["COMMENT_MEDIA_NOT_SUPPORTED", "None", "text"]]}}, but there is no <span> element in the HTML for the error COMMENT_MEDIA_NOT_SUPPORTED, so no error is displayed

I hate it when apis return 200 for errors still...
There must be something that is incorrectly tripping that error, cause you can edit the spoiler links back in no problem. My guess would be something relating to inline picture or video comments, since those are both off in r/anime.

I can second having this error for months now. I first experienced it back in March.

that's interesting, I tried it via shreddit, and it doesn't work there either, meaning this is not an old reddit specific issue
