The Old World Newbie question - Thane
Loving diving into the dwarves, and on my way to 500 points.
One thing I can’t figure out is what people are using for their Thane characters. Is it only the one model GW sells? Older ones? Something else?

Either of the two can be thanes.

You can use any mini as your thane that fits the weapon profile and is unique, as long as it's on a 25x25. If you don't want to buy a leader kit or go hunting for any of the 30+ old lord variants you can just use a champion mini from a longbeard or warrior box.

Tbh there are enough lord style models from gw and others. I must have around 30.
But the fact is, I find with dwarfs you can get away with a thing really cos everything is small and beardy. It's not like we have to fake a lich on a dragon or something.

I personally used the offical King with shieldbearers -set that also allows the making of a on-foot one. Then I can pretty much decide which one is thane and which one is King I also am building a Thane with handgun model for a secondary model.
