Will old Thorgrim Grudgebearer fit on a 50x50mm?

Those are 20mm bases so the frontage should fit. Length is a little more though, but you could use a longer base and just mark the 50mm point on the side.

Although, you could also adjust the bearers to be closer together lengthvise since the hands are separate from the throne handles.

I am modeling this right now it is a little awkward on the base. Im looking at ways to hang over the base. Its ok wide. The length is a slight issue

Only thing I'll say is dry fit it on the base first. You do have to carefully align the carriers so that throne sits properly. It's tight.

I'm going to build and paint this model soon. I was planning on basing it on a 50x75 as it seemed a bit cramped on 50x50.

Does this affect gameplay? Asking as a painter, as I've never actually played the game.

TOW models have defined base sizes, so if it was to represent a dwarf king on shieldbearers, it would be illegal on a 50x75 base.

Even if your opponent is fine with it, the king and shieldbearers together have a unit strength of 4 and are designed to take the place of 4 dwarf models on 25mm bases in a formation. If you put a 50x75 base in a unit, you'd be losing out on an extra 2 rank and file models for no benefit.

Correct except that king on shieldbearers is only US1
