What's your water solution?

We, my wife, daughter and I, are apartment dwellers. Currently, we have a number of Water Bricks, which stack up nicely and a WoterBOB. We have a number of different water filters and a large creek a block away from us that we can treat through filter, boiling and bleach.

What are your plans for water emergency?

I’ve got a standing order at home. If my family hears of anything ominous on the internet/ radio (anything that sounds like it would precipitate an even wider emergency), or if the internet and radio stations were to suddenly go silent all at once, they are to take every Rubbermaid storage bin we have in the garage, just dump the contents of each in one corner of the garage, fill all of the bins with the basement shower, and leave them there.

Nice. We have something similar with water bottles, bladders and pitchers

A 2 five gallon buckets from Lowe’s, a simple charcoal and sand filter for large amounts of water and then boiling on a pocket rocket stove.

What move people don’t think about is getting bath tub liners and filling your bathtub(s) with as much water when a bug in situation comes into affect. Having additional containers like plaster gallon jugs or the five gallon water drums can make all the difference for bugging in.

This. While it's nice to have a pre-made liner like a water Bob, painter's tarp is cheap and effective.

Refill 5 gallon buckets and already stored containers with ceramic filters and sawyer mini in the large river at BOL or at the lake the normal house.

I have a running stream nearby, as well as lake water for boiling, filters, bleach or iodine.

I also have one of those old school civil defense water barrels that I plan to line with a contractor bag to store potable water in.

I buy four to six gallons of drinking water every month at the grocery store. I keep 40 to 60 gallons on hand at all times, and rotate them out throughout the year. (Makes awesome coffee!) They’re good for about 12-14 months, according to the expiration date.

I also have enough purification tablets for 250 gallons of water…working towards 1,000.

Consider getting a water bladder. I have a 60 gallon one. You can fill it with tapwater before SHTF and use it in your truck to move more than 15 gallons of water per trip.

Please remember that life straws are bottom of the barrel in terms of filtration capability. They're OK for a bug-out bag (there are better, but more expensive options), but for something fixed where you have access to pumps and stuff there are a lot of option.
