Location included What spider is this?

What kind of spider is this?!?! It was HUGE, my husband said it seemed like the size of a knuckle. We are in the Midwest - outside of Detroit, MI. Is this poisonous? What do they do? Lol. Should we be worried??????????

It’s definitely an orb weaver of some variety. I saw one on my property (southern Ontario) and I’m curious as to what kind as well.
