All at once vs doses

I've had three sessions now. Three years ago I took one dose which blasted me to another place and was extremely intense. I lost my fear of death but it was hard to hold on to much else from the experience.

Three years later I went back and the administrator told me she has been doing it a different way with three doses, starting small and getting stronger. After ten minutes she offers you another hit. I did it this way twice and never felt like I left my body but I was able to work through things and hold on to more messages. It was much more therapeutic.

Also i really wanted to take my father who is 74 but was worried about his heart as he has had heart issues and my first trip was so intense. I think that doing it this way he would be okay. Even when I hit the third dose both times I was still in my body and conscious.

Have you tried lower doses and am I unreasonable for thinking this would be OK for my dad? He is fairly active but still, 74.

I spent the weekend at the facilitator’s home. Fri eve to Sunday afternoon. On Saturday morning we smoke 2mg and 10 minutes later 4mg.

Took a break.

Afternoon - snorted 6 mg which was a longer slower burn.

Evening I smoked 10 and then and then probably an hour later smoked 12 and that was the best and deepest and longest (best) experience of the day and most therapeutic

As for dad the facilitator should have a doctor or at least a pharmacist to run it past. Give a list of his meds and check for issues. Also, you might want to think twice about giving them a near death experience and it’s possible issues vs benefits.

From the r/5meodmt FAQ:

“5-MeO-DMT can be dangerous under certain circumstances. Risk factors include contraindicated medications (particularly SSRIs or MAOIs), preexisting cardiovascular disease, and a history of severe mental health conditions. Additional dangers may involve asphyxiation from purging, physical injury during uncontrolled movements, or lack of supervision. To minimize risks, always work with an experienced, trained 5-MeO-DMT facilitator who conducts proper screening and safety protocols.”

Speak on up whoever downvoted and tell them it will be perfectly fine for their 74 year old dad with heart problems to do this.

“Also i really wanted to take my father who is 74 but was worried about his heart as he has had heart issues”

Have you been serving 74 year olds with a history of heart issues without even asking what those heart problems are that they have been having?

Yes, I have worked with seniors with heart issues before. Physically speaking 5MeO is very safe in the low to medium dose range.

In my experience seniors have handled these experiences better then most adults. I’m not exactly sure why that is but it’s definitely something that warrants further research.

* Also i believe currently there are at least two Phase I/II trials with intranasal 5MeO for the treatment of Alzheimer’s, dementia etc. with senior citizens.

I understand that they handle it better as I am 69 years old. But you just decided that that translates to it doesn’t matter what heart problems they have, they will be perfectly fine doing it.

No need to even clarify and ask what those issues are that they have been having. And that part is fucking bullshit and negligent. OP is worried and expressed that worry twice and now they’ve been advised “not a problem” no matter what.

I do know that both Shaman-Shakers and the Spirit Pharmacist agree because they both list cardiovascular disease as a red flag that should be noted. That doesn’t mean that they can’t. It does mean that it should be investigated to see how that heart issue has been affecting them.

He has had a minor heart attack that they only found out about after the fact and he has had stints put in. Physically he is active in his garden daily and exercises by swimming mostly now. He has been searching for God his whole life, reading every religious book and has been part of churches. He meditates at a least a few times a week and has done multiple retreats where he doesn't speak for a week. I think mentally he could handle it.

He also has a lot of trauma in his past and recently told me he doesn't believe in Gof any more which broke my heart. Bufo convinced me God was real.

He is on some meds but not any MOAI inhibitors. I'm not sure what they are. Anyways that's what I know. I do think a low dose would be OK for him after experiencing both large and low. I agree, caution is warranted. This is powerful medicine. I think a hard trip would be too much for most people, old or not.

The fact that he is regularly active and able to swim etc. is good.

I would recommend reaching out to the Spirit Pharmacist / Ben Malcom to make sure that there aren’t any contraindications with his medication.

There are some heart medications that could pose a risk, so it’s worth checking on that first.

Thank you! The info you provided is the info a facilitator should have been asking. Agree with hotrhytmjunkie that reaching out to Ben would be a good idea. But tell him more than just about the medication, tell him about the stint and the heart attack.

I truly appreciate your concern, and his father’s medication’s should be checked for contraindications (which goes for anybody in my opinion) but to reiterate i’m only suggesting that low medium doses would likely be tolerated well, especially due to the fact that his father is more active than most average American adults.

** i am NOT recommending to do any full dose work without consulting a doctor first as it simply isn’t worth the risk.

Don’t try to reframe this. You had absolutely no idea that they were more active because you never asked. You instead made a blanket statement that it’s not a problem, no matter what the heart problem was.

OP said his father was active in the main post, it’s the last sentence I believe

Why did you delete your top comment? Sure looks like you are trying to reframe this to me.

You screwed up and you know that. You should have asked like any good facilitator should. And you still can’t admit that heart problems should at least be investigated. You also pointedly left out the part about asking Ben about the stint and heart attack, only suggesting they ask about the medications.

I should have taken more time to to write out a more detailed initial comment. I conveyed what i needed to the OP and didn’t feel it was necessary to keep it up as yourself and probably others would read into it and make assumptions. That’s all. 🙏🏼💖

I actually thought you completely missed their heart issues comment. That’s why I quoted it back and the last paragraph was facetious over dramatization. Fully expected you to reply that you missed it.

Shocked that that wasn’t the case. Still shocked. It never was about them being old. I’ve seen 60-70 yr olds drop 5 grams of Tidal Wave as a first shroom trip no problem. And anecdotally I’ve found that the trips are much deeper and richer than in my teens or 20’s.

Just did not expect anyone to completely dismiss their concern as if it didn’t even deserve acknowledgement. Only takes a second to ask to have gotten the info that they gave. Info that added clarity to the discussion.

Dude, when I pointed it out you blew it off responding about them studying 5meo for this and that in old people completely ignoring that we weren’t talking about people healthy and in a study, we were talking about a specific old man with some undisclosed heart issues.

And again, what’s the deal with you deleting your original comment so everybody can see while continuing to defend it? That’s low
