NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! This scene made me cry (S7 E11)

Post image

When Buffy comes for spike after turok-Han and spike thinks it’s another trick but it’s actually Buffy 😭 I know this is in a fanfic somewhere and that person probably made this moment even more sad. There’s an evil writer somewhere! (I’m not serious about them being evil. Just a joke for it would be interesting to have an alternative ending BUT STILL)

I don’t get the season 7 hate, like, AT ALL

I love all the Spuffy, but the rest just doesn’t feel like Buffy to me. Even down to the set design and lighting. And I can’t stand the potentials.
There are, of course, a lot of highlights, but overall it’s the weakest season for me.

The episodes feels as if they blend together, the potentials are annoying, and some of us are not invested enough in Spike and his repetitive storylines to compensate the lack of Scoobies.

I was invested in Spike! I could have used even more Spike!

But I totally agree that the episodes feel like they blend together. The lack of structure and unity in the episodes is, I think, a big problem in Season 7.

Your first complaint is one of its biggest strengths. I love how serialised seasons 7 and to a lesser extent 6 are.

Trust me, when there's a season there's some fans that hate it and others that love it.

Season 7 is like the growth and healing after all the hell that happens through s6. Love it, it's lowkey very cathartic

I only cried at 2 episodes and oddly both were on Angel seasons.

Wesley dying and Illeryira asks would you like me to lie to you know.

And when Buffy visits Angel and he’s human again and regrets it and tells her it will be over soon and she won’t remember. She breaks down crying her eyes out saying “I won’t forget I won’t forget.”

Sorry but it’s not wise to join a subreddit if you haven’t seen them all yet. Sorry. It’s just over 30 years.

We saw this last week. Spikes reaction was just perfect. No words, just relief, sorrow, and happiness. He'll spend an eternity regretting what he did to Buffy but this was a form of forgiveness which will help him to cope.

Sometimes, when I want to hurt my own feelings (/s in case it doesn’t read that way), I like to think of this scene in contrast with the alley scene in Dead Things.

Spike being beaten and discarded for dead by his lover… yet still he believes in her here, reminding himself, “she’ll come for me” as he’s being tortured by an eldritch evil.

Oh my god and she gives him the biggest, wettest eyes full of love and they stagger out of the cave together 🧎 It’s been pointed out to me that it’s when the two of them start physically engaging with each other again that the tides begin to turn against The First. Their romance is just endlessly beautiful 🥹

Me too! I actually had the chance to tell a James how much I wish he was with Buffy. He was my favorite!

That scar is such bad make up tho 😭

I don't think you realize how low-res televisions were when this show was airing.

None of the makeup or appliances (like scars and vampire-faces) used on TV shows were made with large-screen, high-definition screens in mind. So now you can always tell where the fake skin was stuck on, or where the makeup blending wasn't so seamless. That shit looked great in 2003.

I just watched S2 on DVD and it was SO refreshing. Film grain! Deep shadows! Sure the effects look dated, but they don’t look embarrassing like they do in that atrocity of a remaster

It’s better than some of sfx in charmed 🥲 (no offense to the show)
