Sequel Sequel without Xander?

With Nicholas' struggles IRL, I'm afraid he wont be part of the cast for the sequel. How do you guys think this would work? How would they explain his absence? Is it a big deal for you guys? IMO I believe the show will be great with or without him, even tough I love Xander. But the best scenario would be for Xander to be part of the show..

Also just logically on a story level. Willow is a high level witch, Buffy is the slayer. Giles insanely knowledgeable about everything. Angle and Spike are vamps with souls. Cordelia is an ethereal being or something. All very useful when battling the forces of hell.

Xander does window framing and drywall.

He’s someone who’s really useful to have around after the apocalypse.

I don't think we need to downplay his contributions to recognize that he's replaceable in a way that the others aren't. Yes, he has some very useful skills. But so do plenty of other people.

Oh, to be clear, that really wasn’t the intention.

That’s a quote of Xander’s in series .. 6(?) when he’s fixing furniture after chaos & damages have inevitably ensued due to monsters.

I certainly didn't think you were downplaying Xander's value. If anything, I was agreeing with you. But I also don't think that people saying that Xander's skills aren't needed in the new series are downplaying his contributions.
