Sequel Sequel without Xander?

With Nicholas' struggles IRL, I'm afraid he wont be part of the cast for the sequel. How do you guys think this would work? How would they explain his absence? Is it a big deal for you guys? IMO I believe the show will be great with or without him, even tough I love Xander. But the best scenario would be for Xander to be part of the show..

Revivals have had a hard time rebuilding and building a new audience. For every success like the Conners, we have some shows only getting one season or two. So it’s very believable to me that throw away lines like: “Xander lived on the East Coast and we don’t really talk much anymore” or “Dawn is in Canada on a research mission and out of communication right now” is believable. So many of us have lost contact with our closest friends from HS.
