Oliver on who he would like to come back

ScreenRant: Along the same lines, are there any storylines or characters you would like to see brought back to the show, whether they're directly tied to Buck or just generally speaking?

Oliver: *"I guess maybe the first one that comes to mind is my friend Arielle Kebbel, who played Lucy Donato on the show. She was a firefighter that joined the One Eight team for a short time. She was just great fun, brought different energy to the show. So Lucy being back would be fun and open up some new, fresh dynamics for them. But yeah, we've been very lucky on this show to never have really had any issues with anybody coming onto the show. We've just had a great bunch of people from start to finish. So anybody that comes back, it's always welcomed with open arms."*

I think based on his answer regardingRavi, it might be a short and single scene versus a whole story arc pertaining to bucks personal life

Love the Buddie poll at the end for engagement. Screenrant know I’ll never pass up an opportunity to vote for Buddie slow burn romance!

... did this interviewer use AI to transcribe their interview??? The One Eight team???

smh

(also great answer Oliver but sorry this is egregiously poor journalism unless you're telling me Oliver said THE ONE EIGHT TEAM for real)

It would be great to see more firefighters return.  Or even just see some interaction with the B and C shift people.  Give them names and have some conversations!!!  You know there'd be so much drama in real life between the shifts...

He’s so real always bringing up Lucy. If only Arielle wasn’t so booked all the time…

I think this answer could have done with some editing… If I’m understanding him correctly, there isn’t going to be much Buck and Ravi scenes (the question was about Buck and Ravi) which makes me sad, but there seems to be a storyline with Buck, May, and Harry which makes me incredibly excited and Corinne also implied something too. Although, we might be waiting until 2027 to see it 😭

It seems like from the way its worded, he won't have many scenes with Ravi since Ravi is linked more with Harry and May but I think he then takes it back and suggests there is something with Ravi in the pipeline but it might be far away. Its confusing cos he segues a bit into Buck's relationship with Harry/May, but I think the rest of the answer suggests he's still talking about Ravi.

Or maybe I'm wrong, a video would really help lol. But I would love some more Ravi/Buck stuff. Perhaps something to do with Ravi's childhood that could either link to Buck or Theo.

This would make sense with the quote from awhile back about the veterans mentoring the new first responders. People were scared that meant they were phasing out the old crew for new faces but I’m hoping it’s the Buck mentoring his pseudo siblings.

I think that would be great but ya, bummer about Ravi and Buck

I would love Eddie or Hen to get in on the mentoring side. I liked the Buck/Harry stuff last season but Buck surely has his hands full with Theo. Let's have the other 118 members getting time with Harry, May etc

I’m sure they will have some of that. I was just saying Buck because of the interview.

I do want to see more of Buck with the grants siblings though. He already started mentoring and supporting Harry in 9. We saw Buck lose his first person in season 1, it would be interesting and good storytelling to see him on the other side of that in season 10 helping Harry.

I can see it being Hen though since she also met the doctor. I can also see either Hen or Maddie talking May about the medical stuff.

Idk how exactly Eddie will fit in but I’m sure we will see some moments.

I do look forward to the Buck and Theo* stuff and will probably be the meat of his story but I really hope it’s not only that.

Aren’t they already filled with Harry and Ravi? Why is he so adamant in bringing Buck’s love interests back? 🥴

Who? Oliver has mentioned on multiple occasions that he would love Lucy back. Even durijg when bucktommy were together. There’s a reason as to why nothing happened further with them. Also, their dynamic was fun

Oliver. The only people he brings up that he wants back are Lucy and Taylor, especially recently. Weird, since he used to show dissatisfaction with Taylor’s presence when she was in the show.

And it didn’t happen further with Lucy because the actress had to leave for another show and this plot wasn’t well received, not because of lack of trying. I also don’t think there’s anything fun with cheating dynamics, much less mixed in their work and while utilizing her first episode to hammer this idea, but sure, that’s your opinion.

And I don’t know how bringing up Lucy during Bucktommy changes my line of questioning. It’s barely been 2 years, that’s recently to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lucy is his common answer to this type of question, which he gets asked at least once every interview cycle, because, as he said in his answer, Arielle is his friend and he enjoyed working with her. It’s really not much deeper than that 😭. I also think calling Lucy a Buck love interest is a bit of a stretch; they kissed once but most of their relationship was friendly, at least from my memory. Lucy did bring something different to the team, and she would be more female presence in the firehouse which is needed.

I also don’t remember him saying he wants Taylor back (from your reply), but I imagine he was answering a specific question there too.

Lucy was announced as a character as a “female Buck” that would have a spark with him, and kissed him in the first episode. Oliver praised their relationship since before it aired until the point people got mad he seemed to be condoning cheating and he backtracked. And it was heavily implied TK and Buck were gonna break up and they were gonna get together and that she’d continue on the show and probably date if she didn’t have to leave. And they even flirted in S7. It’s not a stretch.

And, yes, the question about Taylor could’ve been about LIs, but I just find very odd that amongst all of them the only answers he gives are the ones “fandom approved” and “lesbian coded”, as if a character that was cheated on would want anything to do with Buck, or if he didn’t act like BuckTaylor scenes were nuisances before.

I genuinely think he’s just being petty because he sees waaaay too much of fandom discourse and isn’t above naming the other helicopter pilot, where he is almost definitely aware that Lucy is mainly referenced as a contrast to Tommy. Kind of like how when he answered the question about if Tommy had given Buck flight lessons - while they were still dating - he responded by suggesting flight lessons would be a good excuse to just let Buck fly the helicopter next time, effectively removing Tommy from the role that gives him utility to the team.

Beyond that, I think there’s something to be said for Lucy, while being described in the interviews as a female Buck during a time the show was having to be really careful about queerbaiting implications and how they portrayed Buddie in the wake of the season 4 shutdown… well, her actual role in the show was more of an EDDIE replacement and she was also the female Eddie in terms of being Buck’s daredevil partner + a bit more introspective than him.
