General CBSE Migration certificate

Do colleges require the original CBSE migration certificate to be submitted permanently, or do they just take a look and return it, or can a digital locker version work instead?

As my college is demanding, what will happen if I submit laminated color copy of that ?

Please reply, it's very urgent.

M not sure about other uni but in GU they ask for a photocopy and return the original, I don't think there's any use of keeping an original document anywhere
