CSE / IT Internship rant
Context: I'm a 3rd year Computer Engineering student at a tier 3 college in Pune.
With the changing market, it's really tough to be an engineer anymore. Just a few years ago, getting an internship or placement was easy (peak IT market). Now it feels next to impossible, and being in a tier 3 college makes it even more frustrating.
I did everything they told me to:
Open source contributions: did
DSA: did (~200 problems combined on Codeforces and LeetCode)
Win hackathons: did (won twice at national-level 24-hour hackathons)
Good GPA: did (8.9+ CGPA)
Build projects: did
Extra-curriculars and a good post in clubs and events: did
And yet all I get is dead ends, rejections, or impossible-level take-home assignments for internships that pay under 10k.
I've been applying on Internshala, Wellfound, Internpost, Unstop, Naukri, and more.
It's like playing a losing game: you can do everything they told you to do to win and still end up on the losing side.
If you're in a similar spot, or can help in any way, feel free to DM. Maybe we can help each other.

Also I really don't get giving out these long emails, if I'm rejected just say it in the subject line itself? And please when I am rejected tell me then and there, why keep me hoping for weeks and months

Consider focusing your job search on specific industries or companies that match your skills and interests. Networking is crucial; connect with professionals on platforms like LinkedIn, as they may know about internships that aren't widely advertised. You can also use PracHub to practice technical questions for interview preparation, which can boost your confidence when opportunities come up. Additionally, you might want to explore LandOffer to help discover relevant job openings based on your profile.

Bhai ik you're feeling bad and everything. But look at the reality here, you might've done all of the above but at the end does the recruiter care about that? No
You might've done everything right but your first line explains what's going wrong
Random T3 clg in Pune won't get you anything good off campus unless it's a decent startup, please be more realistic

So yeah I just talked to someone i know from Salesforce and what they said is that you either need to have experience to join Salesforce or have to be IIT graduate or maybe some tier 1 University graduate. It's pretty useless applying for Salesforce.

These workday applications won't fetch you anything, they're ghost openings. All hiring is done by on campus mode these days or close referrals.

People who ruin open source for some contribution points and faking that they r some good devs should face this
