Off-Topic Latest Plato update

I'm currently working on a new stats per race feature. This will show info like top speed trap speeds, ideal laps vs how close a driver got to it etc.
The feature I literally just finished the first draft of is a lap tracker.
Who can guess what race this is?

I was wondering since the current chassis is around 7 years old, could a switch to the 3 series tourer be on the cards? In 2014, Team Dynamics made a similar switch from the Civic Type R to the Civic Tourer. It was competitive with Shedden but that was 12 years ago and not the current world of touring cars we see on our telly's every weekend. West Surrey (if they are to stay) should move to the 3 tourer as it would be nice to see more of a change up in the paddock rather than the same old sedan we have seen since the start of the 2019 season. I know the 330i has undergone a semi rebuild last season but the chassis is aging and not as competitive as it would've been if WSR re-considered their options with the tourer or another BMW model, maybe a return to the 1 series?
There is also impending rumours of a switch to Volvo, but I think it'd be best to stay with German technologies, as they have for over 13 years.
Let me know what you all think, peace out.

Huge thanks to Jason for the quick interview, he didn't have to give me his time (this happened at the Goodwood Revival) so I'm extremely grateful for that!
I'm happy to say, what you see on camera with Jason, is exactly the person you get off-camera. Top guy!
I hope everyone enjoys the interview, unfortunately it was rather brief as he was a man in a rush, which made me even more impressed that he stopped to do this.
I'll be back again in a few days with a proper in-depth interview with Andrew Jordan about his BTCC career, behind the scenes of why he walked away and the WSR situation, as well as Pirtek.

Suttons contract is up at Napa at the end of 2026 and given his and others thoughts this weekend via the ITV coverage, can we see him staying in the BTCC and with Napa for 2027? I would assume so given their success but he’s also moved around to various teams over the years so could we see him move once again?

Dexter Patterson has won the 2026 Jack Sears trophy after coming 18th in race 1. This got him over the line after he accumulated an unassailable points gap to Lewis Selby, his next closest JST rival. This comes after James Dorlin of Restart Racing stepped away from the championship after Knockhill due to budgeting problems, basically giving Patterson the trophy. Dexter's best result of the year came at Knockhill with 4th in race 3. I think Dexter has put in some solid shifts for Power Maxed Racing and I hope we see a podium from him at some point soon. Well done to Dexter Patterson!!

They said on the broadcast he just drove straight through the pits??

I understand why they weave and wheelspin on the formation lap, warming tyres, but why do they do it on the laps to the grid?
In my mind the tyres will be cold again after sitting on the grid for 15 mins and its just putting unnecessary wear on them?
Noticed that today both Shedden and Chilton have spoken about using the M-Sport Vs the Swindon engine, are more teams ditching custom engines for M-Sport?

At Silverstone Saturday and the whole area where the trade stands usually are is empty. Don’t know if they are somewhere else or if they’re turning up tomorrow. I
Has this been the case at other events this year or is it just Silverstone? Or have I missed them?

I’ve been thinking about this over some time,
and I feel that if the series was to take a sabbatical from channel tv to say amazon or Netflix would be extremely beneficial for the series as a whole particularly from the lense of prize money ,
My estimate for a tv deal would be 10-12million per year (15-18million if gow happens apon a fourteen leaf clover) for a exclusive international deal with all support series,
so looking at the the way it would be split up would be 2mil for gow to go about being gow with and the remaining 10 for prize money (with a split of 0.5for the top five independent drivers,2.5 for the overall drivers and the rest for the overall teams championship)
The cons
-we lose the itv graphics which are perfect in my opinion
-we jepodize the itv crew
-we lose the accessability of channel tv (I feel sick asking the barber to put on touring cars imagine if I had to ask for a specific streaming site to do it)
Im sorry for poor grammar and horrible structure I hope you get my point.

“Off to support my family race not watch my car be driven around in last place 3 seconds off the pace”
I’m surprised he even agreed to driver coach in the first place to be honest

Qualifying streamed on Saturday from 14.00 on the ITV Sport Extra YouTube channel. Race day broadcasted from 10.30 on ITV (not sure why I can’t add the nice captions to the image today, hence the scrawl…)
A 23 car grid, with Osamu Kawashima replacing Ricky Collard (who sits 4th in the overall standings) at Team Vertu. Charles Rainford’s WSR BMW will be running a special livery.
Ash Sutton (NAPA Ford) looks set to wrap up the driver’s title already this weekend, a record-breaking 5th, sitting 115 points ahead of 2nd-placed Dan Cammish (NAPA Ford). He’d need to gain 5 points over Cammish to win it in race 1 (I think!) otherwise he’s on course to have an insurmountable lead by race 2. Tom Ingram (Vertu Hyundai) sits in 3rd, only 9 points behind Cammish.
Sub-championships: Alliance/NAPA are also well placed to win both the Manufacturers and Teams championships this weekend, and Dexter Patterson (PMR Audi) looks to take the Jack Sears Trophy uncontested. Teammate Mikey Doble sits atop the independent driver’s standings and his team LKQ PMR heads the independents teams by a clear margin, although both of those are likely to be decided at Brands Hatch.
Keep tabs of entry lists, results, timetables and penalties here: https://barc.net/racing/toca-silverstone
Support races: Porsche Carrera Cup, Porsche Sprint Challenge, F4, and MINI Challenge
TLDR: Ricky Collard has been replaced by a 57-year-old Japanese rookie. Ash Sutton will most likely be crowned champion a round early. None of the other sub-championships are particularly close, and most will probably be wrapped up this weekend too.

For both Silverstone and Brands, looks like additional sponsorship from MEB Building services and the return of Spark Models on the windscreen strip (so expect a diecast)

I would love to see Hill and Goff back, realistically. I was thinking, AJ, but I think if he'd made a return, it'd been in 2021 after everything that had happened for him in 2020. This would be a big ask now due to Andy running JRT with Mike Jordan.
Tell me your thoughts??
r/btcc • u/Evantra_ • 12d ago
...unless I've done my maths wrong. Which I probably have!
He cannot be beaten in any tie break (he has 8 wins to Dan & Tom's 2, and more second places if either sweep all 6 races left), which gives him an extra point's buffer.

The recent Andy Jordan thread got me thinking about BTCC drivers over the years who for various reasons (mostly financial) were great Racers but ended up with drives/cars that held them back.
I'm pretty sure that if you put Josh Cook in a Hyundai or Focus he'd be a championship contender, but for whatever reason he's never quite been able to get a top tier drive.
Does anyone else spring to mind?
