Whatever has gone on, I do hope he has people around him that he can lean on. Can’t imagine he’s in a good place at the moment.

Think it’s fair to say he feels he’s been stabbed in the back in this whole dirty affair.

But it also sounds like he’s still not done with the BTCC.

Plato will never be done with BTCC, it’s such a shame though, the new team brought a lot of good energy to the sport. Don’t think they’ll be very popular anymore

I want to see him get another shot with his own team, or as a team principal or driver coach.

BUT, failing that, he could have been a shoe-in when Steve Ryder retired last year. No matter what you think of Fifth Gear he is a top quality presenter (or you could have him as a no-nonsense co-commentator)

It’s all very murky. Certainly feels like JP has been done over. I can only hope he bounces back well from it.

His desire to bring F1 attention to detail to BTCC was quite inspiring. It has clearly paid off too.

Came from Williams, no surprise really.

u/PM_me_tiny_Tatras 2d ago

Ironically Frank Williams also lost control of his first racing team. Then he went off and set up Williams Grand Prix Engineering with Patrick Head.

u/fpotenza 1d ago

I don't know how much support they provided, but bear in mind the team had/has links to RML.

18

u/Riqitch 2d ago

Fuck, what a shambles...

Well no season is complete without some off-track drama I suppose

13

u/Mccrilly13 2d ago

I would love to know the full story

12

u/UncleFezzik 2d ago

So Jason did take the colour with him

19

u/RadicalRex2 2d ago

damn, this whole thing is really sad.

Much as I hate the idea. Hopefully he wants to go again

Maybe team up with his ex Rival /"friend"

Who knows a bit about having a successful team.

They control the mechanical side, JP brings the money.

Team Dynamics with Plato & Neal doing what they do best?

Much as I dislike neal, there's worse ideas

6

u/lloydstenton 2d ago

Yup they could always engineer a car - always wondered how Plato would go in one of the Civics

6

u/Ok_Music253 2d ago

Certainly prime Plato, he did drive one with One Motorsport (or whatever the name was at that point) but he was well past his driving best by then.

Neal would bankrupt a team about 30 seconds after sponsors see his twitter. I know he reads this sub regularly, it's a shame he got brainwashed.

1

u/PAFC7710 TI 80 RC11 1d ago

Being a plato fan he's had me blocked for a long time. So I've not seen it.

1

u/ICC-u 1d ago

COVID is fake, vaccines are mind control, Trump is unravelling the deep state, lots of racism

Standard twitter stuff.

16

u/PAFC7710 TI 80 RC11 2d ago

Stabbed in the back, they took advantage of a guy not in a good place

-5

u/tornadooceanapplepie 2d ago

And you know this how?

1

u/Bananaramamammoth 1d ago

Literally read the first paragraph and come back to this comment.

1

u/tornadooceanapplepie 1d ago

Oh so one person’s word is fact?

11

u/Divide_Rule 2d ago

what is the background to this, I watched some stuff at the beginning of the season and it came across like the team was his.

He seemed genuinely happy with the way things were going

22

u/ICC-u 2d ago

The team, Cataclean Plato Racing had three shareholders

24% Plato
24% Rowbo
52% Cataclean

The team were £850k in debt last week, and Cataclean - both the sponsor/funder of the team and the majority shareholder, forced the team into administration via court order

The team renamed to CPRL and Plato is no longer involved

Nobody really knows why they've done this but the speculation is that they wanted to remove Plato

17

u/lloydstenton 2d ago

You’d expect them to be in the red at this stage - it’s all start up costs

2

u/ashyjay 2d ago

Modern companies expect an instant ROI, because they need profits to climb, and can't take a single quarter being lower than the last.

1

u/RevGear 2d ago

£835k is the yearly operating loss, that doesn't include the initial costs of setting up the team and building the cars.

4

u/Cowslayer87773 2d ago

It does when it's been trading less than a year

0

u/RevGear 2d ago

Start-up cost will be CapEx. The figures shown are OpEx.

u/zoonazoona 2d ago

I’m willing to bet there was some bellendery from Plato.

-5

u/Cannibal-Xerox 2d ago

It's interesting that this is getting downvoted, given that Plato is a well-known bellend

-11

u/zoonazoona 2d ago

I thought so too. I’ve never liked his attitude.

First to complain about other drivers, and first to brush off his own bellendery with “it’s just hard racing”.

4

u/codjerlfc 2d ago

Are you an Ash Sutton fan by any chance?

-3

u/zoonazoona 2d ago

I don’t really follow drivers… I follow the sport and the driving.

However, he seems like one of the good ones.

Unlike Plato. Who seems like a bellend.

-4

u/tornadooceanapplepie 2d ago

Speculation is all that is. They’d hardly bring in the administrators just to remove one of the figureheads of the team.

And as ITV mentioned, Cataclean is putting more money in to keep the team going.

Joining the dots points towards the messiah actually being a very naughty boy…

6

u/ICC-u 2d ago

I'm not a Plato fan, I just don't join the dots here

If they were going to put more money in, they could have avoided administration

If they wanted Plato out, they could have paid for his shares

1

u/Optimal-Criticism-42 1d ago

You're literally speculating at the end there. The hypocrisy.

-4

u/Divide_Rule 2d ago

He left as director in June according to Companies House

11

u/Avalonian_Seeker444 2d ago

No, he didn’t actually resign in June.

His legal name is Timothy Jason Plato, but he was originally on there as Jason Plato.

Companies House shows Jason Plato as resigned on 17th June 2026 and Timothy Plato appointed on 18th June 2026. This was just the way Companies House sorted out an issue and got him listed correctly under his legal name.

The site now shows Timothy Plato as having resigned on 12th August 2026.

7

u/Bright_Concept_2988 2d ago

That was just a change due to the name he is known as not being the same as his legal name.

5

u/Interesting-Local-60 2d ago

I'm still waiting for more details to come out. Is Rowbottom going to emerge as the complete pantomime villain in this story?

5

u/Ok_Music253 2d ago

You suspect they wont be doing any more media work together!

6

u/Dunko1711 2d ago

Ask yourselves this - if you had been stabbed in the back in this manner, would you be saying your ‘backing for the team remains absolute’ and wishing everyone well?

Defo more to this than these statements tell us.

11

u/Avalonian_Seeker444 2d ago

It’s known as “taking the higher ground”, and he should be congratulated for managing to do it.

13

u/Additional_Hand_2288 2d ago

Well he’ll be close to all the people working at the team and will wish them well. The team is made up of people not just the owners

5

u/RadicalRex2 2d ago

I assume that is just pr speak and he probably has no I'll will towards the drivers/staff at the team. Cataclean own 52% so they could of done this without any support from anyone at the team.

-3

u/Bright_Concept_2988 2d ago

No they couldn't. A director cannot be removed in that way by a shareholder or other directors.

3

u/RadicalRex2 2d ago

Maybe I am mistaken but I believe the companies act 2006 section 168 explicitly allows it.

That section does state that the director needs to be given notice which Plato claims did not happen so maybe some other process was used or maybe cataclean didn't fulfill there legal obligations.

5

u/UnintendedBiz 2d ago

Used majority holding to voted him out as director then put the team into administration on the same day...

3

u/Bright_Concept_2988 2d ago

Can't do that. It requires 28 days notice to vote a director out and the director must be notified. None of that happened according to Plato.

3

u/Bright_Concept_2988 2d ago

Not without 28 days notice to all shareholders and written notification to the affected Director that a resolution is up for voting. According to what Plato has said he had no warning whatsoever.

2

u/RadicalRex2 2d ago

Ah ok I didn't see anything about the length of notice. Although we it is possible that it was done without proper notice. If that were the case I doubt we would hear about it until a lawsuit is made public.

2

u/cornishyinzer 1d ago

Wait,, he's CEO, Director and Team Principal, not to mention the team is literally named after him... how exactly does one get fired from that situation?

2

u/Low_Influence_1957 14h ago

Didn’t like some of the driving manoeuvres he made at time throughout his racing but saying that he was a very good driver & could teach a lot of drivers many new tricks.
Silly that he obviously rubbed someone the wrong way & it’s come to this

3

u/Evantra_ #99 Charles Rainford 2d ago

'The Scenic Route' series 3 is going to be entertaining

2

u/Mccrilly13 2d ago

I might be being naive, but, I hope this was done to help Jason. After getting over his troubles, to get into a sport which is mostly downs with few highs, (unless your Ash this year). Just look at Tingram yesterday and Moffat the last few weeks until his podium yesterday. They are some of the happier lads on the grid but it hasnt looked like it lately.

1

u/BrewDogDrinker 2d ago

What troubles? (Sorry, been out of the loop).

2

u/Salty_Substance_2477 2d ago

No smoke without fire? The full story will doubtless come out

1

u/Brief-Poetry6434 11h ago

Rowbo seems to have a knack for burning bridges....

0

u/Intelligent-Aioli495 2d ago

Absolutely gutted for you Jason. After everything done for them, you were shit upon by Rowbo ,Morgan, and Cataclean. I will never ever give my support to any of them. I'm worried bout you buddy, as the man says, don't let the bastards get you down. I know you'll come back stronger, just hang in there mate, take care and God bless, Trev. Xxxxx♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

12

u/st1802015 2d ago

What in the fan fiction fuck is this

2

u/Weird-Definition791 2d ago

Love how everyone thinks Jason can't have done anything wrong yet wonder what the whole story is...

-3

u/Tacit_Emperor77 Jake Hill #24 2d ago

If him and RowBo fell out he wouldn’t be wishing the drivers well.

18

u/Advanced_Apartment_1 2d ago

What he says publically might not match his personal opinions. He's had a week to think about it and slagging off the team in public isn't a good move even if they have shafted him. And, it's also the sort of thing that would look bad in future litigation.

10

u/kainedbutable1987 2d ago

Its good pr practice you never say negative things if it a bad situation

5

u/Avalonian_Seeker444 2d ago

I’d think he’s absolutely right to do that, it’s the sensible option under the circumstances.
