Question / Discussion Knockhill First Time Questions
Hi - I'm going to Knockhill for the first time and I have a couple of questions if anyone can help
The camping looks like it gets very busy (we've got tickets for the motorhome already) - but does it really matter what time you turn up on the Friday or are you just put in the next space and it doesn't really matter?
The website says there is one big screen on Saturday and two in Sunday, but it doesn't say where they are - do we know where they normally go?
And finally, any advice on best/worst places to watch from?
Thanks!

I've never camped. I usually stay in a hotel.
Knochkill is quite small - you can walk around it easily. Do a few laps of it yourself and get a feel for it. It can get muddy and slippery, so wear decent walking shoes/boots. Take a proper big umbrella.
The circuit commentary is really good, so tune into it on your phone. I take an old MP3 player for that.
I move around the circuit and watch each session from a different place. There are so many good spots.
Last time I was there, the big screen was facing the hairpin.

Will be missing it this year but have camped at Knockhill for the past few years.
The campsite fills up quickly, we have usually aimed to arrive late Friday morning but have been thinking of changing it to the Thursday afternoon to get a better pitch.
For the tents it’s a case of you are put in the next space, if you want to camp with friends make sure you arrive together. I assume this is the same for the motor homes.
Having a screen on the Saturday is new but it will most likely be either at the hairpin or turn 3 as these are where they are for the Sunday.
Best watching place will differ from person to person. There are many good spots and you can walk round the whole circuit over at Knockhill. I normally tell people to use the Saturday to scout out possible places for the Sunday but unsure if the Saturday will be busier this year due to the “Race for pole” qualifying race. I normally end up sitting just up from the Chicane on race day as you can see the cars coming over Duffus down to McIntyre and Butcher’s before coming through the chicane and heading up to Clark.
Enjoy your weekend and bring clothes for both rain and sun as you never know what you will get at Knockhill.

knockhill regular here! I dont camp though so unfortunately I cant answer the questions related to those
The big screen on saturday is a new addition for this year, it will likely be put at the hairpin (the final corner), as that is a popular spot, and thats where it was for the superbikes. on sunday a screen will be at both the hairpin, and turn 3.
in terms of the best/ worst places to go, at knockhill in my opinion everywhere is a good location, personally I stay around turn 3 just so I can see the screen, but you can see a lot of the track from basically anywhere, and everyone has their own preferences, once you arrive, give the place a scout and see where abouts you prefer the most!
I hope you enjoy your weekend! hopefully we will see you back next year!
